Upcoming developments at Marina Bay, Singapore

Marina Bay, Singapore, is set to become a vibrant waterfront location, a 24/7 Live-Work-Play environment. It will be a destination where people from all walks of life explore, exchange and entertain.
Explore – new living and lifestyle options
Exchange – new business ideas & information
Entertain – in rich cultural experiences, fun and beautiful surroundings.

Some of the developments in Marina Bay include:

Singapore Flyer - The largest observation wheel to date opened to public on 1 March 2008. It offers breath-taking views of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. The terminal building also houses a shopping mall, a central atrium with lush rainforest and alfresco waterfront dining.

Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resorts - Includes a casino, two theatres, a 110,390sqm meeting-and-convention facility, three hotel towers. There will also be retail space, restaurants, sky parks for the public to enjoy. A new ArtScience museum will also be built, along with pavilions that are accessed via submerged tunnels. The development is expected to be completed in 2009.

Double Helix bridge - A new vehicular and pedestrian bridge will connect Marina Centre (in front of Ritz Carlton) to the Marina Bay-front forming a 3.4 kilometre continuous walking loop. This means that all the attractions by the bay will be connected, forming the necklace of attractions. The design of the bridge resembles that of the human DNA, and is the world's first "double-helix" structure. To be completed in 2009.

Gardens by the Bay - Three waterfront gardens will offer a diversity of activities, recreational options and entertainment in a scenic setting. The green lungs equivalent to the size of 177 soccer fields will be an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Attractions include a conservatory housing cool climate plants, mass floral displays and areas for garden festivals. To be completed in 2010.

Marina Barrage - This is a new dam that will be constructed across the Marina Channel. There will be 9 crest gates in all, and these gates would keep the freshwater in, and the seawater out, alleviating flooding in the low-lying areas in the city. At the same time, it will create Singapore's 15th reservoir. Water sports and activities will add buzz to the Marina Bay area. To be completed in 2008.

Marina Bay Financial Centre - The Marina Bay Financial Centre is set to cater to the needs of financial institutions and global businesses and is located close to the existing Central Business District. Standard Chartered, and Singapore’s DBS Bank are just some of the banking and finance institutions that will lease office space in this prime location. A luxury residential development called Marina Bay Suites is also being developed. To be completed in 2010.

The Sail - Designed to resemble a sail sculpture, The Sail is a luxurious six-star residential development offering spectacular views of Marina Bay, the skyline and the Singapore Flyer. Units at the two towers were snapped up within weeks of its launch. The 245 metre condominium will be the tallest residential development in Singapore. To be completed in 2009.

Collyer Quay - A new development by Fullerton Heritage will incorporate two conserved buildings - the Clifford Pier and Customers Harbour Branch Building - and the two parcels of land adjoining these two buildings. A luxury boutique hotel, a floating public plaza, discotheque and floating pods to be used as function rooms, shops or restaurants are on the cards. To be completed in 2009.
